Alroy Ndhlovu

Hi, I'm Alroy Ndhlovu. Think of me as a modern Swiss Army knife: I specialise in tailored, data-driven digital marketing, branding and business tech solutions, as well as product development and management.

Products I've built

Product development and management is best understood when demonstrated. A few products I've built for myself: the thinking and story behind each, the tools used, and how I manage them now that they exist.

Hakkan

Worth listening to.

  • Beta
  • Web
  • Content Research & Development

A content research and creation assistant, built to fight AI slop. Pick a topic you want to lead, and Hakkan researches the real conversation into a cited report: a source of truth you create content from, in a voice it learns from you. A trends module keeps you current.

Problem
“Slop” made Oxford's 2024 Word of the Year shortlist: fluent AI content that knows nothing. Writing tools that start from a blank page produce it by design.
Approach
Research before writing. Hakkan builds a cited report on your topic as the source of truth, learns your own voice to write from it, and keeps you on the pulse with a trends module.
Result
Rebuilding the evidence filter took real human voices from 29% of citations to 57%. Anything the model inferred is flagged, not hidden.

Built with

  • Next.js 16
  • React 19
  • TypeScript
  • Tailwind v4
  • Supabase
  • Vercel AI SDK
  • Claude + Grok
  • Paddle
  • Recharts
  • Sentry
  • Claude Code
  • Hakkan research report showing themes and a sentiment split.
  • Hakkan gathering the conversation across social platforms and the open web.
  • Hakkan persona view, grouping the voices found in the research.
  • Hakkan visual report, charting where the evidence and the sentiment diverge.

InSpiritInTruth

Take your faith into your own hands.

  • In development
  • iOS and Android
  • Faith & Devotion

Faith has always been communal: same readings, same routines, and a template feel to the personal side. InSpiritInTruth complements tradition rather than replacing it: devotionals written for whatever you are carrying, alongside the shared devotions and the whole Bible everyone knows. No algorithm, no ads.

Problem
The devotional has not changed in generations: one text, written for everyone. The communal side of faith is well served. The personal side gets a template.
Approach
Complement tradition, don't replace it. Share what you are carrying and get a devotional written for that, rooted first in scripture, with shared devotions and the full Bible keeping the communal thread.
Result
Verification takes ~77% of the AI effort against ~22% on the writing. An app that quotes scripture cannot afford to misquote it.

  • The personalisation step, asking what you are walking through, with mood options below.
  • The devotionals tab, with the option to have one written for you.
  • Discover, browsing devotionals by theme from Faith to Gratitude.
  • The in-app Bible with a highlighted verse and the note and save controls.
  • Profile screen showing a four day reading streak and totals.

tapa.

What can I cook with this?

  • In development
  • iOS and Android
  • Food & Cooking

The daily what-do-I-eat problem, solved with what is already in your kitchen. Type it, say it or take a pic of your ingredients and get real meals back: variety from the same shelf, dietary choices enforced as hard rules. Cooking made simple, and the power back to you.

Problem
Deciding what to eat is the daily tax on being an adult. Recipe sites answer it with fifty results.
Approach
Feed you with what you have, wherever you are. Type, talk or take a pic of the fridge and get variety from the same ingredients, dietary choices set once and enforced as hard rules.
Result
Convenience and variety, minus the deciding. The free tier was set from how often people actually cook, not from hope.

CaughtSlipping

The browser extension that calls you out.

  • Live
  • Chrome extension
  • Focus & Productivity

A sarcastically honest friend that keeps you in check, calling out the procrastinator and warning the workaholic. It lives in the browser, where the work happens and the distraction finds you. Everything stays on your device.

Problem
The browser is where work gets done, so it is also where distraction is bound to be found. And screen-time tools only nag one kind of slipper: the distracted, never the overworked.
Approach
Hold both accountable. It tracks where the hours go and calls you out like a friend would. Then it flips, and Caught Grinding warns you when productive has quietly become overworking.
Result
Live on the Chrome Web Store. No account, no server: everything stays on your device.

Built with

Case studies

Work done for a business, and what it returned. The starting point, the thinking, the measured outcome — and what I would do differently.

[ Thrifty Adventures ]

[ Jul 2025 – Jan 2026 ]

Took a travel brand's marketing from scattered to deliberate across four channels: TikTok and Instagram grown on what was already there, LinkedIn and search built from nothing, and lead forms converting at three times the platform norm.

  • Paid media
  • Organic social
  • Search
  • Lead generation
  • Channel strategy

Thrifty Adventures runs group and tailored tours out of South Africa. Contracted as digital marketing manager to lift return on ad spend, open new audiences on channels like LinkedIn, and turn attention into leads. Social and TikTok were already running; paid was not. I gave each channel one job.

[ Innovatr ]

[ Mar 2026 – Sep 2026 ]

Helped rebrand a research business and build its marketing engine: website, content, paid media and a CRM-backed system. Costs beat the industry benchmarks, and an annual software licence became a product the company could sell.

  • Rebranding
  • Content
  • Paid media
  • Lead sourcing
  • Marketing automation
  • Product build

Innovatr is a consumer research and growth consultancy. As Brand & Marketing Manager I worked with the team to sharpen the brand, start the paid engine, build the marketing system and ship a product. This is what changed in seven months.

case study

[ Filosofee ]

[ 2024 – present ]

Built a clothing brand end to end: product, store, payments, photography. Validated the only way that counts: sales in the first month, local and international, then a 20-unit bulk order from another brand.

  • E-commerce
  • Brand
  • Product design
  • Photography
  • AI production

Filosofee is a South African streetwear label. I designed the range, built the store, wired the payments, ran the shoot and the marketing. It sold in its first month and then landed its first wholesale order. One line of it failed, and that is in here too.

case study

[ LumiSkin ]

[ Mar 2026 ]

A meme said the brief was too expensive to build. I built it in a day for under $300, against a $6,500 conventional quote.

  • Art direction
  • AI production
  • Front-end
  • Motion

A chameleon that takes the colour of the product beside it is a lovely idea and a five-figure production. I took the brief seriously to find out whether AI had closed that gap.
